Help provide a vital experience for UO law students interested in law and public policy. Through the Wayne Morse Law Fellows program, students spend 10 weeks in the summer as paid law clerks in the D.C., Portland, and Salem offices of elected officials and nonprofit legal organizations.
Experiences such as these are incredibly valuable for the students—they are shaping policy, engaging in legal writing that is more than just a class exercise, gaining insight into future career paths, and building lasting connections.
However, it's expensive to travel across the state or across the country, secure lodging, and pay the higher costs of living that come with relocating to a city. Historically, opportunities such as this have only been available to financially well-off students. Most of our law fellows could not afford an experience such as this without the funds the fellowship provides.
With your help, the Wayne Morse Law Fellows program is leveling the playing field and alleviating money-related stress for these bright and motivated students, allowing them to truly focus on and delve into the issues that matter.

"The Wayne Morse Center offered me the unparalleled opportunity to build relationships with a cohort of brilliant, curious peers who were all committed to tackling interdisciplinary challenges facing our state, country, and world. As a law student, it also gave me an avenue to engage directly with scholars, activists, politicians, and other leaders and change makers at a time when I was still working to develop the personal and professional skills necessary to be a change maker myself. It was an invaluable experience, one of the main highlights of my graduate education." —Will Johnson, Wayne Morse Law Fellow Alumni
