Known for their performance on the field, court or track, Oregon student-athletes manage rigorous schedules and high expectations. In addition to athletic and academic achievements, the Oregon Athletic Department also prioritizes student-athlete development for a well-rounded college experience.
Between the end of spring term exams and before summer workouts and school begin, an ambitious group of student-athletes chaperoned by athletic department staff prepare passports and cultural education in anticipation for an adventurous 10 day international service trip. "I sat up every night in Uganda within my mosquito net thinking, "How will I ever be able to explain this experience to anyone back home?" I finally came the conclusion that it was an UNEXPLAINABLE experience. An experience I will never regret, but mostly never forget."
Annually, Oregon Athletics provides 50% of the funding for this trip and student-athletes are responsible for generating 50% of their travel expenses.
