Courts For Kids, Student-Athlete Service Trip

PRACTICE. STUDY. LIFT. LEARN. COMPETE. REPEAT.

Known for their performance on the field, court or track, Oregon student-athletes manage rigorous schedules and high expectations. In addition to athletic and academic achievements, the Oregon Athletic Department also prioritizes student-athlete development for a well-rounded college experience.

Between the end of spring term exams and before summer workouts and school begin, an ambitious group of student-athletes chaperoned by athletic department staff prepare passports and cultural education in anticipation for an adventurous 10 day international service trip. Led by Katie Harbert, Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development, over the past 7 years, more than 125 student-athletes, have partnered with Courts For Kids, an organization that facilitates the construction of sport courts in rural communities around the world.

Student-athlete, () reflects on () trip to Jamaica in June of 2019...

"I sat up every night in Uganda within my mosquito net thinking, "How will I ever be able to explain this experience to anyone back home?" I finally came the conclusion that it was an UNEXPLAINABLE experience. An experience I will never regret, but mostly never forget."

Annually, Oregon Athletics provides 50% of the funding for this trip and student-athletes are responsible for generating 50% of their travel expenses.

Please consider making a gift to the Duck Athletic Fund Student-Athlete Development and join us in supporting the opportunity of a lifetime on the upcoming Courts For Kids student-athlete service trip. GO DUCKS!
