Support undergraduates in the Latinx Studies program
The new Latinx Studies program at UO is only the third of its kind in the state! Latinx students now make up nearly 15% of the UO undergraduate student body. This community is diverse, and includes students who identify as Hispanic, Chicana/o, Mexican-American, Salvadoreña/o...the list goes on and on. Many of these students are bilingual or multilingual, speaking English, Spanish, Portuguese, and a variety of indigenous languages. The contributions they make to our university community are huge!
This new program is innovative—combining a robust academic curriculum with resources for social and financial support to our students who identify as Latina/o/x. As the University of Oregon moves forward in our goal of establishing ourselves as a Hispanic Serving Institution, our Interim President Patrick Phillips and his spouse, Kay Crider, have committed to matching funds raised in this campaign to support the Latinx Studies program!
Money raised through this campaign will support students directly in two impactful ways:
Thank you for your support!
Supports a student to attend the César E. Chávez Leadership Conference at Western Oregon University.
Funds an undergraduate student ambassador position for one quarter.
Supports an undergraduate student to complete 60 hours of faculty-supervised research.
