The UOregon iGEM team is based in the Phil and Penny Knight Center for Accelerating Scientific Impact at the University of Oregon. Our project this summer is to create a biosensor for concussion biomarkers. The goal is to detect biomarkers present right after a concussion event to mitigate permanent brain damage in athletes. Coming from a D1 school, we are home to a PAC-12 football team, so our community is all too familiar with concussions. We envision a world where people can lead active lives without having to worry about complications from undiagnosed concussions. With your help, we can get closer to making this dream a reality.
We hope to compete and showcase our research at the 2022 iGEM Jamboree in Paris, France. This is a synthetic biology conference and international competition where our undergraduate group hopes to bring the University of Oregon to the international stage in science alongside 400+ multidisciplinary teams from 40+ countries.
Sending just one person to the iGEM Jamboree would take $2000. From our team, we thank you for your time and would be so grateful to have your support as we prepare for the 2022 iGEM Jamboree.

This donation helps us to purchase lab items such as pipette tips, petri dishes, and test tubes!
$100 buys one length of DNA or an enzyme, we need these to conduct our research! We will send donors a specialized thank you gift created by us.
$2,000 will cover flight, housing, transportation, and the Grand Jamboree ticket for one student. We will acknowledge your donation with your name or organization on our t-shirt and in our materials for Paris in addition to a thank you gift designed by our team.
