Support Student Experiences that Reach Far Beyond Eugene

The U.S. celebrates International Education Week each November.

At the University of Oregon, we decided one week was not enough.

We celebrate International Education Month.

Every international journey begins somewhere. For some Ducks, it began with a suitcase and a long flight to Eugene. For others, it began when they left Oregon to study elsewhere in the world.

They may not have known it then, but the experience would stay with them.

It would change how they understood the world and how they saw themselves. It would shape careers, create lifelong friendships, and connect them to people and places they would carry with them long after they returned home.

That is what the best international experiences do.

Support an international flock

But for many students, these experiences are out of reach. That's why we're launching a $10,000 fundraising campaign to help make these opportunities possible for more students.

And this year, one Duck is helping us make an even greater impact.

UO alumnus Josh Friedman knows firsthand the value of international education. As a student, Josh studied abroad in Italy. Now, he's helping create opportunities for the next generation of Ducks to have international experiences of their own.

Josh has generously committed an additional $5,000 if our community reaches its $10,000 fundraising goal. Together, we can turn $10,000 into $15,000 to support international education at the UO.

Every gift brings us closer to unlocking Josh's challenge and opening more doors for students.

Gifts of every size support a shared fund for study abroad, international internships, and other opportunities to learn across borders, as well as the partnerships that connect the UO to the world. Your support can help future Ducks begin an international journey of their own and contribute to work that reaches far beyond Eugene.

Your gift can make a difference

• $100 covers visa fees, helping a student take an important step toward an international experience.
• $200 covers the cost of a passport, opening the door to opportunities around the world.
• $500 helps remove financial barriers to studying abroad.
• $1,000 helps cover international airfare, making a life-changing global experience more accessible.
• $2,000 provides emergency financial assistance to an international student facing unexpected hardship, helping them overcome challenges, remain enrolled, and continue their UO education.

Your impact travels far

Today, the UO continues to welcome students from around the world and send Ducks across the globe. But our international mission extends well beyond where our students come from or where they go.

UO faculty, researchers, students, and international partners are working across borders to address some of the world's greatest challenges. They are sharing knowledge, asking difficult questions, and bringing together perspectives that no single university or country could provide on its own.

Global engagement is not simply about crossing borders. It is about what becomes possible when people and ideas come together.

Our alumni remain an important part of that work. They are ambassadors, mentors, advocates, partners, and lifelong members of a global Oregon community.

During International Education Month, we invite you to celebrate the experiences that brought the world to Oregon and carried Oregon into the world.
