Networking Spring Break

The Student Alumni Association is seeking funding for networking spring break trips to Seattle and San Francisco. These trips will allow students to spend their spring break meeting alumni, learning about their companies, and hearing how their time at UO has impacted their lives.

The Student Alumni Association (SAA) is a student group affiliated with the UO Alumni Association that builds engaged and loyal alumni through creating connections with alumni, education on the importance of giving back to the UO, and instilling a sense of Duck pride. SAA programs are funded by student membership fees.

In Spring 2015, the SAA hosted our first Networking Spring Break trip, bringing eight students to Seattle for four days of meeting with Duck alumni and parents and learning how the UO shaped their lives. Our efforts were rewarded when one of our senior participants, Savannah, proclaimed to a parent hosting brunch on our final day that she was not scared to graduate anymore after seeing the fantastic network of Ducks ready to help out our newest Duck alumni. This year, we are expanding the program to include trips to both Seattle and San Francisco. This trip allows students to build their network, learn about exciting companies in cities they are interested in living and working in, and learn how to tap into the network of Ducks around the world, while giving alumni an opportunity to give back to their alma mater and make a difference in the lives of current students.

Due to costs, students have to pay a travel fee to cover lodging and transportation while on the trip. The majority of meals and activities are generously covered by local alumni chapters and donors; a few meals and activities are covered by the SAA. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to help subsidize costs of the spring break trips this year. Reaching our goal will allow the SAA to provide more of the meals and activities on the trip, as well as making it possible to provide a travel fee discount to students on the trips.

Make a donation today to support the SAA's 2016 Networking Spring Break trips. Each donation will go towards allowing the SAA to cover a greater number of meals and activities for students to help make their experiences memorable.
