UO Outdoor Program Student Experience Fund-Get Outside!

Help UO Students Get Outside and Active!        Second video from pre-pandemic days

From virtual classes and separation from family and friends to rising expenses and seriously stretched budgets, UO students are facing unprecedented hurdles in 2021. Getting outside and being active are great for both mental and physical wellbeing—but even low-cost, local adventures like guided hikes or bike rides can strain student budgets.

The EMU Outdoor Program wants to make sure that all Duck students have equal access to fun, safe, high-quality outdoor adventures, regardless of their means to pay. Our $10,000 goal will create some 300 Experience Grants, enabling 300+ underserved students to participate in UO Outdoor Program adventures during 2021.

The UO Outdoor Program (OP) began in 1967 with a few students sharing rides and gear for outdoor adventures and has grown into a thriving program of trips, events, gear rentals, resources, bike loans, and a DIY bike workspace.  Offering over 200 classes, trips, and services each year, the OP is nationally recognized as the premier common adventure program in the country and the birthplace of modern collegiate outdoor programs.  Staffed by experienced professionals and knowledgeable students, the OP is a fun and wonder-filled environment where students can be themselves, build community, discover new adventures, and safely explore the outdoors.
