Build Pathways to Practice for Future Mental Health Professionals
Be a part of our future. Be one of the next 75!
Mental health is one of the most pressing challenges of our time, with growing demand across schools, hospitals, clinics, and crisis centers.
For 75 years, the University of Oregon’s Counseling Psychology (CPSY) program has prepared clinicians, researchers, educators, and advocates to meet that need and transform lives.
As we celebrate this milestone, we invite 75 donors to support CPSY students with funding for professional development to strengthen their training and expand their impact.
Why Professional Development Matters
Human connection is at the heart of counseling psychology, and professional development equips students to serve with skill and confidence. Your gift helps students:
- Present original research at national conferences like the American Psychological Association and the Society for Research on Adolescence
- Gain specialized training on trauma-informed care, Spanish language immersion, school-based prevention, digital health, and health disparities
- Build networks that launch careers and deepen community impact
By removing financial barriers, you’re investing in the next generation of mental health professionals.
“Having funds to support professional development is the number one way our students can be exposed to new opportunities. With funding, they can network, grow, and contribute meaningfully to the field. It’s not just about presenting your work, it’s also learning from others, meeting future collaborators, and seeing your field come alive. That can completely change your trajectory as a student and as a psychologist."
—Cindy Huang, PhD ’12, associate professor of counseling psychology
About the CPSY Program
CPSY is one of the nation’s longest continually accredited doctoral programs, recognized by the American Psychological Association since 1955. Housed in the College of Education, CPSY emphasizes prevention and intervention with children, families, adults, and communities, especially diverse and underserved populations.
Students gain hands-on experience through clinical practice in the HEDCO Clinic, interdisciplinary collaborations, and research partnerships with the Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health. Graduates become professors, researchers, and licensed psychologists serving in universities, medical schools, health systems, and community organizations nationwide.
