That’s why the University of Oregon’s Oregon Hazards Lab (OHAZ) created Alert OR—the largest wildfire camera network in the world. With more than 64 cameras across Oregon, Alert OR delivers real-time images that help first responders and communities act quickly to keep people safe. 

But wildfire detection is just the beginning. 

OHAZ is a one-of-a-kind, all-hazards monitoring program that combines cutting-edge science, real-time technology, and community partnerships to protect Oregonians. Since launching in 2018, OHAZ has: 

• Built a statewide network of 220+ earthquake sensors and 64 wildfire detection cameras 
• Deployed mobile, solar-powered wildfire camera kits for rapid response to new fire events 
• Delivered ShakeAlert earthquake early warnings to millions across the region 
• Provided vital, actionable information to first responders, tribal nations, lifeline operators, and the public
