OREGON GYMNASTICS
From 1966-1982, the 'Flying Ducks' soared into Oregon's history of strong athletics. Although small in numbers, the Women of Oregon performed mightily ranking in the top 20 in the nation for several years in a row. Under the guidance of coaches Henriette Heiny and Carol Strausberg, the team claimed several regional victories while high scorers such as Sharon Smith, Jan Model, and Elaine Fischer made appearances at the National Championships. Gymnast Duck alums set a stunning example of success for Oregon's future female student-athletes.
YOUR SUPPORT
By making a gift to Women In Flight, TODAY, you can support programming specifically for female student-athletes including foreign tours, scholarships, equipment, books for the classroom, career and leadership development opportunities and more.
Women In Flight funds also sponsor an annual women’s symposium focused on empowering Oregon female student-athletes, in their future careers and life after collegiate athletics. This year, the program featured the very motivating ESPN reporter, Holly Rowe.
